04 Jun Fronds, Not Franz: The summer design trend
Have you heard of Fronds? No we are not talking about Franz from the Saturday Night Live skit made famous by Kevin Nealon, we are talking about one of the biggest design trends of the summer.
A Frond is a large botanical leaf. The leaf found on a fern, palm and cycads. This summer season they are also seen on wallpapers, pillows, drapers, jewelry and more!
You can search for “banana leaf”, “tropical leaf” or simply “frond” to find some exciting ways to add this striking pattern into your interior design. This pattern is actually a throw back to summers gone by. Amy fondly remembers seeing the frond pattern in the décor of a Catskills resort her family spent time at one summer (think Dirty Dancing!). And now this trend is back and has been spotted everywhere from Target to Esty to Willams Sonoma Home.
Let’s take a look at some of the fronds finds we’ve come across:
If you’re looking to go bold with fronds, you can always use this wallpaper to really add a style punch to the room. We found this beautiful banana leaf pattern on Esty, click here to shop:
Wallpaper too bold a move? Adding a throw pillow or simple print allows you to swap it out easily as the season changes or as you grow tired of the trend. As mentioned, Target has a wide range that is easily accessible:
