Philadelphia Interior Designers’ Favorite Local Resources

Here at D2E we take great pride in our efforts to integrate sustainability into our design process. One of our favorite ways to honor this practice? Shop local! Minimizing your carbon footprint is a bonus, and who doesn’t want to support your community vendors? Our team loves to shine a light on local sources that have helped to complete our projects, both professional and personal. Here are some of our choice picks.

Amy Cuker, owner and Design Director

“Our clients had a wonderful experience working with Bucks County Soapstone on their kitchen renovation and we are thrilled with how their counters, backsplash and sink turned out. They were able to strategically select the parts of the stone with the most interesting veining to use in key locations and really highlight the beauty of this natural material. They were also able to fabricate a sink large enough to bathe the adorable dogs.” You can read more about this project in this Philadelphia Inquirer profile.

“After a room has been designed and furnished, we often talk about ‘the last layer’ — the styling details that make a space come to life and help the room feel complete. For me, the best way to do that is through plants. Terrain, The Rhoads Garden, and Foliage are favorite spots to purchase plants and to get inspired.” See more of Jillian’s beautiful home here.

They craft solid wood tables for modern and traditional styles.” This example of Stable Tables’ excellent work just happens to be in the home of our owner, Amy Cuker. You can enjoy more of it here.

“This is my girl in Quakertown who refinishes unwanted furniture. She runs Saved by the Belle out of the Quakertown Farmers Market and she is a little gem.”

down2earth Interior Design - designers' favorite philly resources - custom roller shade with velvet trim

Custom roller shade by Ambience Design.

Ambience Design in Blue Bell is a wonderful choice for custom window treatments. They have countless options and are extremely supportive and communicative throughout the selection and installation process. After years of fighting with poorly constructed blinds, my roller shades are a dream. A thoughtfully selected window treatment makes such a statement in a room.”
