24 Sep YOU be the designer!
The front door of Down2Earth Interior Design’s home base needs a new paint color. The taupe I inherited is unobjectionable, but has no drama or personality. My objective is to choose a color that is welcoming, and also contextual with the stone work, ivory trim, and landscaping. My front door should say, “Welcome to the home of a designer and her colorful family.”
Emily Lambrow, d2e interior designer and Photoshop master, has kindly mocked up three door options.
They are…. (drumroll please)….
1. Sherwin Williams SW6839 “Kimono Violet”
2. Sherwin Williams SW6861 “Radish”
3. Sherwin Williams SW6713 “Verdant”
And now it’s time for you to vote! I’m targeting a start date of mid-October, but voting will close whenever the painter is ready to brush on the first coat.
Time to weigh in, and give this door the dramatic makeover it needs! Place your vote by clicking on “read more” and typing your choice in the comments section. Thanks so much.

Posted at 18:08h, 01 OctoberNot easy!! All great colors and I noticed that each color picked up something different in the landscaping around it. I’m going with my first reaction though – #1.

Posted at 18:55h, 01 OctoberI want to say the green because it is so original and stylish, but the red just feels so right. One vote for radish, please.

Posted at 19:50h, 01 OctoberI think all the colors are great choices, but somehow “Radish’ just feels right.

Posted at 23:31h, 01 OctoberTorn between the green & radish. They both look good but I’m voting for the radish!
Ronna Cuker
Posted at 00:18h, 02 OctoberAt first I thought it should be the violet or the verdant, not the radish. On a second look I thought it should definitely be the radish! Call me fickle but I just love that shade and it really brightens up the entrance.

Posted at 03:39h, 02 OctoberLove this!–they are all great but as much as the red “pops” it might limit you use of colorful plants/flowers in planters by it without clashing–given the colors of most annuals. You’ll have more options to accessorize w/ flowers if the door is violet or verdant. The green says sleek, stylish, not to mention “Eco” savvy– all things that represent down2earth design–go Verdant– and show your stylish whimsical side with great floral arrangements, in contrasting colors..–you’ll be able to have all 3 colors with a Verdant door & florals in violet or radish!

Posted at 13:08h, 03 OctoberRadish, but I would go for even redder. I love red front doors. Verdant works too. Not a fan of the violet – too, too.
Good luck choosing. Remember, you can always change paint colors!

Posted at 22:06h, 03 OctoberDavid and I like radish. The radish color looks very nice with the dark gray stone and off white cement. The violet is our second choice – it is different and a pretty color.

Posted at 13:15h, 04 OctoberPersonally I like the green but I would have to see the roof to make a decision 🙂

Posted at 15:25h, 08 OctoberI have to go with the traditional welcoming door color red (SW Radish) to bring good luck and happiness into your home. They are all lovely colors and I’m sure you will be pleased with your crowdsourced choice!

Posted at 17:25h, 08 OctoberAs a male designer with a more minimalist approach, believe it or not I’m still leaning towards “Kimono Violet”. Although Verdant ties well with some of the natural greenery of your curb appeal, the Kimono Violet is a much nicer contrast without being as bold, and “been there done that” of a red door. But they are all good color choices for sure! good look with the decision.
