This Glenmoore great room is a soaring space with an elongated plan. The homeowner asked down2earth interior design to create a space that was calm but not bland, where her kids and grandkids can relax around the fire and watch tv.
The two-story fireplace, which was originally red brick, was faux-painted to look whitewashed, which dramatically transformed the look from conservative to rustic contemporary. Playing with a palette of neutrals that range in depth from light beige to deep charcoal gives the scheme contrast and serenity, with just a few pops of color. The walls feature large-scale art of the family’s black labs, Henry and Bella, and the color and fabric of the giant sectional, on which the dogs lounge, was strategically chosen with the maintenance needs of dog owners in mind.
