27 Jul Celebrating Chocolate and Interior Design, Top 10
“Chocolate is happiness you can eat,” – Ursula Kohaupt.
In a year that, to date, has been tough on everyone, it’s nice to remember that all bad days can be improved with the world’s favorite dark brown treat: chocolate.
I’m sure you’re thinking, “Chocolate is for eating, what does that have to do with interior design?!?” Well, yes, that IS correct, but today is National Chocolate Day and chocolate is a color and stain used in interior design frequently. Here are our top 10 ways to incorporate chocolate into your space.
1. Custom Chocolate Media Cabinet and Nightstands
We had these custom pieces designed and crafted by Salvage Works. They are made of black walnut. These were featured in our Yorkshire Way master bedroom project.

2. Angled Curio Storage
This angled curio is a smart solution to creating storage in a space with a slanted ceiling. I love the way the glass allows for the natural light to bring out the movement in the chocolate wood. The waves remind me of Willy Wonka’s chocolate stream.

3. Chocolate Lab Custom Art
What a stylish way to personalize the art in your home! Our dear friend Amy Carson Smith is a talented artist who paints beautiful pet portraits. We love how she painted Ellie, this adorable chocolate lab, against the popping floral wallpaper design.

4. Classic Main Line Home
The ceiling in this home is the showstopper, and our interior design for the room makes an intentional effort to keep things light and bright without distracting from the richness of these stunning beams.

5. Chocolate Custom Wine Bar
This custom designed bar is the perfect combination of beauty and function. Our client, basically an at home sommelier, had limited space in his city townhouse for a full-out wine room. Instead, we created this bar feature wall, equipped with a custom chocolate diamond wine rack, surrounded by this gorgeous linear chocolate marble stone. I love how the built ins and the stone climb up the wall too to responds to the sloped shape of the ceiling!

6. Nuevo Adele Media Unit
The Adele media unit, by Nuevo Living, is inspired by Mid-century design. The carving in the doors reminds me of almonds in chocolate! Mmmmm, what a delicious pairing! We have proposed using this piece in our Den Moodboard.

7. Chocolate Textured Wall Covering
Who else wants to be surrounded by chocolate all day, every day?!?! This Totally Tatami 1982 Smoke Signal by Phillip Jeffries is the perfect textured wall covering to indulge your home in chocolate. We were dreaming of using it behind a bar alcove.

8. Chocolate Double Vanity
This walnut engineered wood vanity is so milky and creamy! The whipped cream, white countertops are just the topping this wall mounted piece needs.

9. Hat Gallery Walls
Flat gallery walls are a thing of the past! Incorporate style, texture, storage, and a 3 dimensional flair using your hat collection on your wall. We love this chocolatey mixture of headware to tie in the natural wood tones throughout the space.

10. Silver and Leather Drawer and Cabinet Hardware
We love the idea of this cocoa and polished chrome hardware to add a masculine flair to any space. The clean lines of the metal, paired with warmth from the leather, gives a subtle unique nod to our favorite brown treat!
